Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) announced that its subsidiary, MOL Energia Pte. Ltd., has signed long-term charter contracts with SCG Chemicals (SCGC) for two new very large ethane carriers (VLECs). This builds on three vessels previously contracted in January. With these new deals, MOL Group will manage 14 VLECs in total.

The ships, to be built by Samsung Heavy Industries and delivered in 2028, will be powered by dual-fuel propulsion engines, reducing harmful emissions. These vessels will transport ethane for SCGC's petrochemical plants in Vietnam, helping to support the country's petrochemical industry and regional economic growth.
MOL's advanced safety systems for liquefied gas transport will ensure safe and reliable operations. The deal aligns with MOL's long-term strategy, aiming for stable profits and business expansion under its "BLUE ACTION 2035" plan.
