MOL announces delivery of “environmentally friendly” vessel Prima Verde


Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) announced on January 30th , 2025 that the multi-purpose vessel ‘ Prima Verde’ owned by ‘Daishin Shipping Co., Ltd.’ was delivered at Onomichi Shipyard. The vessel features a variety of environment friendly innovations including below mentioned specifications as well :

  • Green Steel Hull : The ship's hull is made of ‘JGreeX’ , a green steel material supplied by JFE Steel which reduces CO2 emissions due to innovations implemented in the production process.
  • Engine : The ship has been empowered by an engine produced by Japan Engine Corporation which runs exclusively on marine gas oil (MGO) leading and providing high combustion efficiency and low CO2 emissions as well.
  • Wind-assisted propulsion : The equipped with ‘VentoFoil of ECONOWIND B.V.’, ‘wind-assisted propulsion system to reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

MOL's goal and motto is to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 by means of such projects which are also supporting MOL Group Environmental Vision 2.2.
