Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) has signed a long-term charter contract with QatarEnergy for six high technology ‘QC-MAX’ LNG Carriers , each with a capacity of 271,000 m³. The vessels to be built at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in China and have been scheduled for delivery between the dates 2028 through 2031. MOL will co-own the vessels with COSCO SHIPPING LNG Investment (Shanghai).
As a leading LNG carrier owner since mid-1990s, MOL's strong track record and commitment to safe and efficient LNG transportation empowered this partnership. This contract brings the total number of vessels ordered by MOL under the North Field Expansion Project's shipping program to 13.
The QC-MAX carriers incorporate advanced technology for improved environmental performance in line with MOL's "Environmental Vision 2.2". The company assures achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and supporting a decarbonized environment as well.
